David Hirsch Returning to the 1890 House!

The Board of Trustees of the 1890 House wishes to extend a warm welcome to David Hirsch, author and contributor of several cookbooks from the Moosewood Restaurant.

David was here earlier in the year preparing items from his most recent book in an intimate class in our fernery. David will be returning one Saturday in October to prepare more items, offer his cookbooks (free autographs!), and samples of the food that he teaches you how to make that day!

1890 House Spring Gala a Major Success!

People came out in droves for the 2009 Spring Gala at the 1890 House! With entertainment by Charlie Bertini, Dave Solazzo, and John Kane the night was fantastic. This year, the castle was fortunate enough to have the highest attendance for the event in recent memory. The event was held right here in your 1890 House Museum.

Stuart Family Foundation Donates $10,000!

The Board of Trustees of the 1890 House wishes to thank the Stuart Family Foundation of Lake Forest, IL for its generous contribution to the Museum.

Since its founding in 1985, the Stuart Family Foundation has been committed to two fundamental goals; preserving the unique strength and vitality of our civil society, and maintaining America's preeminence as a leader among nations of our world. For a number of years, the Foundation has pursued these objectives by making grants to support research and education in several areas; in the case of the 1890 House, civic education.

The 1890 House is deeply indebted to the Stuart Family Foundation and its Board. We are using the money to continue offering historical programs in the "castle."
